Build
Rear Window & Locking Mechanism
Step 01
Retrieve your Rear Window Frame from the previous stage. Fit the Rear Window to the inside of this frame, as shown.
As nothing holds this Rear Window in place until we build the Inner Panel in the next issue, I recommend leaving it to the side for now:
Retrieve your Rear Door from the previous stage. Fit the Window Frame assembly to the outside of the window opening, as shown.
Slide the three bottom tabs in first, then gently bend the frame until the two upper posts (arrows below) pop into place:
Begin securing the Window/Frame assembly to the Rear Door from the inside with two (2) EP screws at the upper corners:
Finish securing the Window/Frame assembly to the Rear Door with three (3) BM screws at the lower edge tabs.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Step 02
Slide the Lock Spring over the ‘long’ end of the Lock Pin, as shown:
Fit this ‘long’ end of the Lock Pin into the round end of the Lock Base, as shown:
While holding this Lock assembly together, slide the ‘short’ end of the Lock Pin into this hole in the Rear Door (arrow below), align the pin and screw hole of the Lock Base to the matching post inside the Rear Door, and secure it all in place with one (1) DM screw, as shown:
Press the D-shaped pin of the Rear Door Lock into this matching exterior hole of the Rear Door:
Thoughts
I am not sure why they would have us fit the Rear Window in this stage when it just falls out. It is OK, we will get it attached in the next stage.
