Inside Rear Door Parts
Step 01
Push the three pins of each Rear Door Inner Panel Trim into the matching holes of the Rear Door Inner Panel, as shown:
Fit the keyed post of the Rear Door Inner Handle into this matching hole of the Rear Door Inner Panel:
Secure the Rear Door Inner Handle into place from the other side with one (1) EP screw:
Fit the Rear Door Inner Panel Top to the upper edge of the Rear Door Inner Panel, and then secure it into place from the other side with two (2) EP screws.
The picture I took as I fit this Panel Top did not turn out usable, but you can see see it installed in the next step. Here are the mounting screws:
Step 02
Retrieve your Rear Door from the previous stage. Fit this Rear Door Inner Panel to the inside lower section of the Rear Door.
This is the time where the Rear Window from the previous stage should be fitted, as shown:
Then, we can install the Inner Panel assembly to the Door, trapping the window’s lower tabs in place, as shown:
Secure the Rear Door Inner Panel to the Rear Door with four (4) EM screws.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Fit the Rear Door Upper Panel to the inside upper section of the Rear Door, and secure it into place with two (2) SM screws.
The detail line of this Upper Panel should be at the top of the Door, as shown:
With these components installed, our Rear Door is now complete:
Step 03
Retrieve your Chassis assembly and disconnect the Rear Door Switch cable (marked ‘T’):
Retrieve your Body assembly and fit the switch of the Rear Door Switch cable into this location at the right side of the rear door opening. Then, secure it into place with one (1) HM screw.
Make sure the lever of the Door Switch is facing into the notch, as shown:
To keep the wires of this Rear Door Switch out of the way and protect them, I temporarily taped them to the Body:
Step 04
Fit your Rear Door into the rear opening so the pin of the Hinge fits into this groove (lower arrow below) on the Body:
Cover the Hinge with the Rear Door Hinge Cover, as shown:
Secure the Hinge Cover into place with two (2) RM screws, as shown:
That step concludes this stage. We should be able to open and close this Rear Door without any issues.
Thoughts
I am very happy that we have reached the point in our Ecto-1 build where all of the doors are attached to the Body!
