Right Rear Fender Crown
Step 01
Fit the keyed post of the Outer Light Housing onto this matching hole of the Right Rear Fender Crown.
I found that installing the LED into this Outer Light Housing before we install it makes things much easier. Jumping ahead to Step 01 of Stage 109, disconnect the Right Tail Light LED cable (66D – marked ‘R’) from your Chassis assembly:
Gently bend the leads of the LED on the very end of this cable to be at 90 degrees, as shown:
Push the rounded end of this LED down into the interior hole of the Outer Housing, as shown. You may need to use a flat head screwdriver or similar tool to help press it all the way in:
With this cable seated in place, we can then go ahead and fit the Outer Housing to the Right Rear Fender Crown as instructed. You can see here I had not installed the LED yet and learned my lesson I shared above:
Secure this Housing into place from the inside with one (1) AP screw:
The wires of the Rear Tail Light LED we installed earlier should be tucked down inside the Outer Housing as best you can. There is a small notch the wires will sit in here and the shrink tubing insulation is a bit too thick to fit very well:
Step 02
Fit the Lower Trim to the bottom edge of Fender Crown, orienting it as shown:
Secure this Trim into place with three (3) EP screws:
Fit the Central Trim to the center of Fender Crown as shown:
Secure this Trim into place from the other side with two (2) EP screws:
Press the holes of Upper Trim onto these matching pins along the top edge of Fender Crown, as shown:
Note which end of this Upper Trim goes at which end of the Fender Crown:
Thoughts
This Fender Crown looks fantastic! I think it is going to add a much needed shape to our Ecto-1. Keep the unused Right Rear Fender Crown Rear Trim nearby as it will be installed in a later stage.
