Build

Right Rear Reflector & Outer Light Lens

Step 01

Fit the Right Rear Reflector Outer Lens into the inside of the Right Rear Reflector Housing.

While it doesn’t matter which side faces down here, there is a small notch in the Lens that matches up to a small tab of the Housing (circled below):

Cover the Outer Lens with the Right Rear Reflector Cup, aligning the tabs over the screw posts on either side as shown:

Secure this Cup into place with two (2) AP screws:

Fit the Right Rear Inner Lens to the outside of the Housing, as shown.

One side of this Inner Lens is textured. I fit mine with the texture facing outwards – it just looked more interesting this way:

Secure this Inner Lens into place with three (3) RP screws.

Do not over-tighten these screws as the plastic Lens could easily be damaged:

Technically, this Reflector assembly is accurate to the real car. The red area did not light up on a ’59 Cadillac. However, some people may want to light up this section. If you do, it is as simple as drilling a 3mm hole in the center of the Reflector Cup and sticking a 3mm red LED in there. Just for fun, I did this using the stock LEDs as a test:

It looks great, but I will not be doing this on my model. I just wanted to share the possible outcome of lighting the Reflector if you want to do it:

Step 02

Retrieve your Right Rear Fender Crown assembly from the previous stage. Gently, but firmly, press the Right Rear Outer Light Lens into the Right Rear Outer Light Housing, as shown.

This should be a press-fit connection. Do not be tempted to use super glue here as it can cause the clear plastic to cloud up:

Step 03

Retrieve your Body assembly from Stage 105. On both sides of the Body, remove the forward-most VM screw holding the rear Window Frames in place.

Once removed, these two VM screws will not be used again and can be discarded:

Re-secure the Window Frames to the Body using two (2) WM screws into the same holes – one on each side.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Thoughts

I love how this Reflector looks and the bullet tip tail lights are so 1950s! I am not sure why I included the Rear Trim from the previous stage in this final picture, but there it is! Keep these pieces handy as we will install them all in the next stage.
