Materials: The Rear License Plate is metal and the other parts are plastic in this stage.
Build
Skirting, Rear Fender & License Plate
Step 01
Retrieve your Body assembly from the previous stage and turn it upside down on a soft surface. Make sure the four wires of the Ceiling Light LED cable (66E – marked ‘S’) along the left side of the car are out of the way of this mounting post:
Then, fit the four posts of the Left Skirting into the matching holes along the lower left side of the Body, as shown:
Begin securing this Skirting into place from the interior with three (3) VP screws, as shown:
Finish securing the Skirting to the Body with one (1) AP screw at the front:
In the same way, fit the Right Skirting to the lower right side of the Body, as shown:
Begin securing this Skirting into place from the interior with three (3) VP screws, as shown:
Finish securing the Skirting to the Body with one (1) AP screw at the front:
Step 02
Fit the posts of the Rear License Plate into the matching holes of the Rear Bumper, orienting it as shown:
Secure this License Plate into place from behind with two (2) BM screws.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Step 03
Fit the Rear Bumper to the back end of the Body assembly as shown, aligning the screw holes:
Begin securing this Bumper to the Body with one (1) IM screw at the center:
Finish securing the Rear Bumper into place from the inside with two (2) JP screws at the edges:
With this step complete, we have finished the rear end of our Ecto-1!
Step 04
Retrieve your Steering Wheel, Steering Wheel Center Cap, and Indicator Stalk assembly from Stage 36. Slide the D-shaped post of the existing Indicator Stalk out of the Control Lever, as shown.
The removed Indicator Stalk is no longer be needed and can be discarded:
Slide the D-Shaped post of the new Indicator Stalk into the matching hole of the Control Lever, as shown.
This new piece has a foam spacer and a different stalk:
Retrieve your Chassis/Interior assembly from Stage 67. With the Indicator Stalk towards the driver’s side, slide this Stalk/Lever assembly over the end of the Steering Column and down into the matching D-shaped hole in the Steering Wheel Cover as shown.
Working through the next steps, make sure the front wheels of our Ecto-1 are centered so the flat edge of the Steering Column is at the bottom:
Press the D-shaped hole of the Steering Wheel onto the matching end of the Steering Column, as shown:
Secure the Steering Wheel to the Column with one (1) DM screw:
Push the Steering Wheel Center Cap onto the center of the Steering Wheel, as shown:
Thoughts
It feels like forever since we even received the Steering Wheel parts and here we are finally installing it!
