Build

Gurney Left Front Wheel

Step 01

Retrieve your Gurney assembly from the previous stage. Fit the Gurney Lower Frame to the matching six posts of the Gurney Upper Frame on the underside of the Gurney, as shown:

Secure the Gurney Lower Frame into place with six (6) EM screws.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 02

Fit the Left Front Wheel between the tabs of the Left Front Wheel Leg and secure the Wheel into place with two (2) FM screws – one on each side of the Leg:

Next, align the tabs of the Telescopic Leg Lower to the eyelet on the side of the Wheel Leg, and secure it into place with one (1) AM screw.

The screw should be inserted from this side of the Wheel Leg, as shown:

Then, fit the ‘hook’ on the end of the Wheel Leg under the bar at this location of the Gurney Lower Frame, orienting it as shown:

I used my tweezers here just to prop the leg up for the picture:

Finally, cover this end of the Wheel Leg with a Wheel Leg Fixing and secure these parts together with one (1) FM screw.

This should capture the Wheel Leg to the Lower Frame, but still allow it to rotate up and down. Adjust the tightness of the FM screw as necessary:

Step 03

Slot one end of the Wheel Lock Pole between the tabs of a Wheel Lock Pole Base, align the holes, and then secure these two parts together with one (1) AP screw:

Next, fit the Wheel Lock to the other end of the Wheel Lock Pole and secure it into place with one (1) EP screw.

This Wheel Lock should be attached to the same side of the Pole as the AP screw we just installed. The EP screw should be snug, but not too tight:

Then, fit the Pole Base to this location on the underside of the Gurney Bed, and then secure it into place with four (4) YP screws.

Note the position of the Wheel Lock (arrow) as you fit this Base:

Finally, clip the C-clamp of the Wheel Lock onto the Left Front Wheel Leg as shown.

You should now be able to fold and extend the Wheel Leg:

Step 04

Fit the eyelet of the Telescopic Leg Upper between the tabs of the Telescopic Leg Base, and then secure these parts together with one (1) AP screw:

Slide the open end of the Leg Upper over the Telescopic Leg Lower, as shown.

The part numbers are reversed in the image shown in the magazine for this step:

Align the Leg Base to the matching holes at this location on the Gurney Bed, and then secure it into place with two (2) YP screws.

This Leg Base is not symmetrical – make sure it is oriented to match the shape of the mounting point on the Bed, as shown:

Thoughts

OK, not only do we get more metal in our Gurney, but the mechanism of the folding legs works just like the real thing. Fantastic! Keep the extra Wheel Lock Pole Base nearby as we will need it in the next stage.
