Engine Bulkhead

Step 01

Insert the keyed post of the Blower Vacuum Power Unit into the matching hole of the Blower Unit:

Secure this into place from behind with one (1) EP screw:

Fit this Blower assembly to this location on the Engine Bulkhead as shown.

There is a locating pin on the Blower Unit that will help align this correctly:

Secure the Blower Assembly into place from behind with one (1) IP screw:

Step 02

Fit the Power Brake Reservoir Master Cylinder on top of the Power Brake Reservoir Distributor and secure these together with one (1) AP screw, as shown.

There is a locating pin on the Power Brake Reservoir Master Cylinder that matches a small socket on the Power Brake Reservoir Distributor:

Fit the D-shaped post of the Master Cylinder assembly to this matching hole of the Power Brake Reservoir Vacuum Cylinder.

I only used my tweezers to prop this part up for the picture, they are not required here:

Secure these together from inside the Power Brake Reservoir Vacuum Cylinder with one (1) EP screw:

Fit this entire Power Brake assembly to this location on the Engine Bulkhead as shown.

There is a locating pin on the Power Brake Reservoir Vacuum Cylinder that will align this correctly:

Secure this into place from behind with one (1) EP screw:

Step 03

Fit the Windshield Washer Motor to the round end of the Windshield Washer Pump as shown.

The motor has no alignment pin, so this can be attached in any orientation. I just lined up the plastic mold lines here:

Secure these together from inside the pump with one (1) EP screw:

Fit this entire Windshield Washer assembly to this location on the Engine Bulkhead as shown:

There is a locating pin on the Windshield Washer Pump that will align this correctly:

Secure this into place from behind with one (1) EP screw:

Step 04

Retrieve your Chassis assembly. Slide one end of the Power Brake Reservoir Fluid Line onto this top pin of the brake Distributor (Lift Valve):

Bring the Engine Bulkhead over to the engine and slide the free end of the Air Filter Control Pipe (from Stage 12) onto this pin of the Engine Bulkhead, as shown:

Fit the Engine Bulkhead assembly to the Chassis behind the Front Fender Liners, at the same time sliding the Steering Column through this hole of the Engine Bulkhead, as shown:

I also moved the Power Brake Reservoir Fluid Line to the driver side of the Power Brake Reservoir Distributor:

Slide the other end of this Power Brake Reservoir Fluid Line onto this pin of the Power Brake Reservoir Distributor:

Secure the Engine Bulkhead assembly to the Front Middle Chassis with two (2) OM screws, as shown.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Secure the left side of the Engine Bulkhead assembly to the Left Front Fender Liner with two (2) IP screws:

Secure the right side of the Engine Bulkhead assembly to the Right Front Fender Liner with two (2) more IP screws:

Step 05

Screw the threaded end of a Bulkhead Support Strut into the matching hole of a Bulkhead Support Strut Bracket:

This is quite difficult to do with bare hands as the strut is smooth and hard to grip. I placed mine in a craft vise to make this easier:

Repeat this process for the other Bulkhead Support Strut and Bulkhead Support Strut Bracket:

Fit the non-threaded end of a Bulkhead Support Strut through this hole on the left side of the Engine Bulkhead:

Align the locating pin of the Bulkhead Support Strut Bracket to the smaller hole on the Left Front Fender Liner and secure the bracket to the fender liner with one (1) HP screw, as shown:

Fit the non-threaded end of the other Bulkhead Support Strut through this hole on the right side of the Engine Bulkhead:

Align the locating pin of this Bulkhead Support Strut Bracket to the smaller hole on the Right Front Fender Liner and secure the bracket to the fender liner with one (1) HP screw, as shown:

Thoughts

This stage closed up the aft section of the engine bay of our Ecto-1. There were quite a few small parts, but it wasn’t too bad to get them all installed.
