Build
Control Boxes and Gurney Rails
Step 01
Retrieve your Cargo Area Floor assembly from the previous stage. Fit the Telefunken SB-329/AR Control Boxes to this location against the Rear Right Interior Panel:
Secure these Telefunken SB-329/AR Control Boxes into place from the outer surface of the panel with two (2) AP screws:
On the real car, the Telefunken SB-329/AR Control Boxes are a set of stacked receivers as seen below. Sadly, the part supplied to us is lacking almost all of these details. Many other builders are 3D-printing replacement parts or adding details to the existing parts, however, I am not going to modify mine. This is because these boxes will be difficult to see, and even then, only from the opposite rear door:
Fit the two posts of the Control Box (64B) to this location on the Rear Left Interior Panel, as shown:
Secure this part into place from below with two (2) AP screws:
Step 02
Fit one of the Ferno-Washington Model 22 Gurney Floor Rails to this location on the Cargo Area Floor, aligning the five screw holes:
The raised ‘lip’ of this Floor Rail should be closer to the Rear Left Interior Panel, as shown:
Secure this Floor Rail down with five (5) OP screws:
Make sure to drive these screws in far enough that their heads sit flush with the rail:
Fit another Ferno-Washington Model 22 Gurney Floor Rail to this location on the Cargo Area Floor, aligning the five holes.
The raised ‘lip’ of this floor rail should be opposite the previous rail, as shown:
Secure this Floor Rail down with five (5) OP screws:
Repeat these steps to place the remaining two Floor Rails and secure them down with ten (10) OP screws:
Step 03
Retrieve your Dashboard assembly from Stage 43. Carefully fit the Dashboard assembly to the forward edge of the Front Inner Floor, as shown.
Begin securing the Dashboard to the Front Inner Floor along the front edge with four (4) IP screws.
Ensure you don’t trap or pinch any wires between the parts here:
Turn the entire assembly over and finish securing the Dashboard to the Front Inner Floor with four (4) more IP screws, two on each side.
Be careful here turning the assembly upside down so that we do not damage any parts attached to the Dashboard:
Thoughts
With this stage complete, we have now finished the lower half of the Ecto-1’s interior! We can now shift our focus to the electronics and wiring for the rest of this month’s shipment.
