“In this stage, you fit the window frame to the left rear door.”
Materials: The Window Frame Left/Right/Top Skirtings and the Lock Spring are metal – the rest is plastic.
Left Rear Door Lock and Side Panels
Peel the Sticker from the backing paper and apply it to the inside lower edge of the Left Rear Door Window Frame, as shown. These will keep the window from getting scratched as it is opened and closed.
I tried to place this so the top edge of the Sticker would not be visible from outside the door:
Retrieve your Left Rear Door assembly from the previous stage. Fit this Left Rear Door Window Frame into the window opening of the Left Rear Door from the outside, as shown:
I found that this Left Rear Door Window Frame has screw posts that didn’t want to go where they belonged:
I carefully worked the lower posts into place first, and then the upper posts:
Secure the upper section of the Left Rear Door Window Frame into place from inside the door with five (5) OP screws, as shown:
Slide the three tabs of the Window Frame Bottom Skirting down between the Left Rear Door Window Frame and the Left Rear Door.
This will only fit one way. I took this picture with the skirting halfway installed to show how it is inserted:
Align the holes of the Window Frame Bottom Skirting tabs and the lower section of the Left Rear Door Window Frame together and secure both of them to the Left Rear Door with three (3) TM screws, as shown.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Peel the Window Frame Top Skirting from the backing paper and fit it down into the groove along the outer top edge of the Left Rear Door, as shown:
Peel the Window Frame Left Skirting and Window Frame Right Skirting from their backing paper and fit them down into the grooves along each side of Left Rear Door, as shown:
It almost takes and entire issue (four stages) just to build one door. Of course, after the door, we only have the rear windows, rear bumper, and roof rack left to build!
